THE APPLICATION

Name : Sasha
Game/Series: Pokemon, she's Red's Charizard
Canon Point: HG\SS before the main character battle
Age & Grade Level: 18 and Sophomore

Personality: A talkative and tomboyish girl, Sasha is at times naive and simple-minded. She prefers, like a lot of the Charizard line, to learn things based on competition but unlike most of her kind, hers tend to have a friendly edge. Definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed, she honestly and nearly always means well. Sasha likes to try things! Sometimes it's a bit dangerous, but that's okay, she didn't die and she learned from it! Being surrounded mostly by manly guys (yes they are all manly no matter what) and Euphie, she likes being 'one of the guys' but has a few girlish tendancies. Her manners are sometimes less than perfect, although she does strive to get better (especially near Red's Mom). Being lady-like just isn't for her, she's a freaking Charizard, not a...Luvdisc or a Clefable! I'm a much smaller than expected dragon, HEAR ME ROAR!

She's motivated, strong in her beliefs and her own power. Sasha isn't one to use her strength to intimidate others unless Red orders her to. In fact she tends to be unusually gentle and kind to strangers. She knows she's lucky to have such a tight-knit group with her, and that chance is not something everyone gets to live, so she likes to share the wealth. Her empathy can be contagious, if you're the type to need a motivator, she's your Pokemon. Red never gave up during all the years with her and neither should she. Stand up, face the noise. She'll encourage others and make them face their fears, for better or worse.

Red is, of course, a big part of her life and the trainer who helped shaped Sasha's personality in the years they have been together. First by saving her life from what would have been a sad existence, and then for turning and tolerating the usual Charmeleon rage into something much more noble and worthwhile. She loves him unconditionally. It's not a love that is defined by a girl crush, but something far deeper than just brotherhood. Sasha would give up her life without a second's hesitation to save him. Face eternity in pain so that Red might live. If he would ever want to turn to a life of crime or start a new Team Rocket? She'd already be ironing shirts. It is utter devotion reserved for one person only. Thankfully Red is a kind soul, worthy of such an unwavering trust.

Of course the bond with her teammates is just as strong. She sees all of them as aspects of her trainer, which, by themselves would be weak, but together make an impressive and powerful whole. Vinnie is almost like her other brother, and despite that they both started off as extremely competitive rivals, she grew to enjoy his companionship and appreciate a guy who doesn't even want to eat meat (something that continues to baffle her). Kojiro (who she likes to call Koko) is the calm one of the group, sometimes bringing the over-active members of the Red family back to the ground. He's more harsh and stern, but she knows he means well. Sonny (who she calls Moe) is the quiet guy who is hungry all the time, but when the time comes to fight, oh man, it's amazing to watch him go. They have relaxing times together watching television. Red was right to make him part of the team. She admires Euphrosyne (who she calls Euphie or sometimes just Phie because, seriously THAT NAME) for deciding to stay in her Pokemon form and the fact she brings strange sense of normality to the group. Marie is...well Sasha admires him for beating her up and the fact he's decided to stay as a Squirtle for now. Major respect their point there. She asks like a big sister at times to him, and teases him accordingly. Sasha likes to dream about how powerful he will be when he feels ready to evolve into a Blastoise. Together, they are unstoppable! Well..most of the time. You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

Defeat doesn't get her down, it makes her strive harder to improve. She honestly believes that growing stronger means you're going to run into some hurdles along the way, and Red is such an inspiring trainer that she takes each loss as a way to improve, grow and learn from her mistakes. This is enforced even more when they are fighting stronger opponents, or if they lost to someone h more skilled. Granted, if they do win, it makes the victories that much sweeter. Otherwise, she won't give up until they do, even if it takes ten...or a a hundred tries to win. The odds don't mean much to her, and she laughs in defiance. If she wins that one time, it's just all that better. Getting her to back down from a challenge is a hard thing, unless it's a small inexperienced punk kid wanting to prove how powerful they are. She is quick to calm them down and bring them back to reality. Sasha still understands her limitation, and while she'll fight a Blastoise if it challenges her, it won't be just to try to win...it'll be to prove to herself that determination goes a long way. That, and Red's masterful tactical prowess.

While she used to get into a lot of rough situations as a teenager, Sasha now tries to fight those who are on par or stronger than her, unless she is provoked or asked. She knows her weaknesses, but courage can be both a blessing and a curse. Better to go down fighting knowing you did your best than to hide! Her drive and unstoppable determination is sometimes an extension of Red's own will. She fought tooth and nail and took down an entire organization with him. That was...well...huge! She's proud of what she did, and no matter how much older she gets or the defeats she may rack up as she gets slow...no one will be able to take that away from her.

Just as she has an unconditional love for Red team, she has an unconditional dislike for Team Rocket and its philosophy. They might have disbanded and oh sure, Giovanni might be in school talking about how he's changed, but it doesn't mean he's off the hook. Far from it. Sasha is unforgiving with what happened to her, and what happened to her kind. Pokemon are not tools. He might have treated his own team with kindness, perhaps, but those under him have not and as the leader he was responsible for them all. Red takes each loss as his own. Giovanni should do the same, and he's not. It makes her enraged and she simply can't accept this. Expect a lot of hissing and growling when he is around. Sasha does not seem to realize how hypocritical it is when she'd be ready to join Team Rocket of Red started it, but how the first one is terrible and how everyone it is were.

Should any situation turn serious, so does Sasha, and she'll come to anyone's aid (unless, Red tells her not too. It will hurt her inside, but her bond to Red overcomes all, even her own beliefs.) Foes larger than her do not deter the Charizard, only make her more determined to win.

Despite all this tomboyish attitude and being one of the guys, there is one glaring weakness to Sasha's heart, and that is the art of human dancing. And not just any old dance, but the powerful and strong movements of the Flamenco. Considering her clumsiness, it is very hard for her to pull off, but man, does she ever try. She's been practicing ever since she has gotten a human form, tying her wings around her shoulder blades to aid her and even using them as an extra dancing material. She loves the extravagant and fiery dresses. This is the only dance she wants to learn and master. And even if she's below average, by Arceus, she'll keep trying again and again. And again.

Just don't make fun of her, because she'll show you why the Charizard line is feared.

Strong points: Dedicated, courageous, enthusiastic, kind-hearted, protective of her family, good natured, motivated
Weak Points: Team Rocket grudge, clumsy, not always quick on the uptake, blinded by dedication, may charge into battle against foes who could easily tear her down, needs a strong leading head.

Backstory:
Odds are very slim. A fluke. An error. But once in a while, Pokemon are born with a strange skin coloration. It seems to serve no additional purpose, and some even consider it an error in genetics, arguing that the skin color could cause rejection in the wild, failing to blend with their surroundings and others of their kind and leading to death. Thankfully, as with many Charmanders these days, the little one born that day was the result of a breeding program and spared this fate, destined to one day rest proudly on top of Professor Oak's desk. An offering between three choices as brave trainers took their first steps towards a journey of self discovery in an attempt to become the most powerful one of them all; League Champion.

That never came to pass. Well...the first part, in any case. Amongst the men and women at the professor's labs, there was a mole. A Grunt. He was working for Giovanni, a man who saw the future of the world with himself commanding it. And now, Team Rocket had set their sights on Oak's research program, hoping to be able to find a way to create even more powerful Pokemon from learning about how they bred. This charmander's birth, then, made that grunt think that she was special. That the skin color was, perhaps, a sign of a charmander that was stronger than the others. He was deluded of course, clouded by his own dreams of grandeur. However, knowing that his research here was done and an extended stay was a pointless waste of time, he left a few days later, taking with him a disk containing breeding plans and around thirty pokeballs, including the yellow-skinned runt. The scientists found out all too late the next day when he was far gone.

Believing his prize to be more powerful than the other charmanders, squirtles and bulbasaurs he had brought with him, the Team Rocket grunt selected the shiny Pokemon as his own in he hopes to raise her to be a powerful dark force for the their Global World Conquest. He wished to secure his place as one of the Rocket Elite; an Admin. Charmanders, being loyal to their trainers, knew him as the first pair of human eyes she ever saw, and she obeyed his every word and command, even if he treated his Rattata with a lot more respect than she ever got to experience. But that was okay, this Charmander was a dreamer. She stayed positive. She knew it was only a matter of time before she'd become stronger. Her line was much more powerful that a simple, wild Raticate. Even if he evolved first and kept nibbling at her tail when he wasn't looking, she kept at it. She gave it her all, her ferocity growing and fuelled not only by her desire to please her trainer, but to become stronger and evolve. Her first few years of living continued in this manner.

It all came to an abrupt halt when a young kid dressed in red with a baseball cap faced off against her master. It was a joke! A farce, really! To think that she was going to fight a squirtle of all things...and was when her world shattered. The kid was brilliant. In the eyes of the rival Pokemon, she saw a determination much like her own, but something that she'd never seen before - compassion. He seemed...sad at her situation? True, he had the type advantage, but she was older, more experienced and powerful. She roared at him. Why did he not cower in fear? By all means she should still have won. And yet he did. She fell to the ground, defeated, her heart sinking like the flame on her back that flickered dangerously low.

It was the last straw for the Team Rocket Grunt, his own dreams of becoming an Admin shattered. To be defeated by such a new trainer...he was...no SHE was the problem. In front of Red and and his squirtle, she was grabbed violently, and he flung the charmander into the nearby river, making a run for it.

Red could have pursued him. Instead, he chose to jump into the cold water as a tired, weakened and desperate charmander tried to keep her own tail above water, her mind racing in confusion and instincts of trying to survive. Her kind were not made to swim, and its attempts were only meet with more gulps of water as she tore at everything around her. She lost consciousness not soon afterwards.

Awaking a few hours later near a small campfire, she was surprised to see the same squirtle she had fought standing next to her, looking at her worriedly. The charmander's instincts were to attack him, but she was still very weak and merely growled as he moved back and hid behind Red. She realized then, that she was alive (yeah it took her a few minutes to come to the conclusion, even as a kid she wasn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. You'd think something like that was important.). In wonder, she looked at her tiny arms. They were bandaged. She looked at the boy's arms, and the squirtle and could see dark red marks on his hands and paw swipes on the water Pokemon's shell...burns and cuts from her claws. They had saved her life.

A remarkable change overcame her. When the boy saw she was awake and moved his hand to touch her, she couldn't bite him as she so desperately wanted to do and make a break for it. She let herself be petted on the head, scratched on the neck. It felt like...it felt like the most amazing thing she'd ever experienced. For the first time in her life, she knew gentle human contact and the charmander closed her eyes in delight. Red didn't have to fight for her. He stepped back and threw the Pokeball.

One. Two. Three. Click.

She was his.

A trip to the Center and she felt as good as new too! What was this strange technology? Ahh it didn't matter.. They had the next gym leader her trainer to face off against, some girl named Misty. Sounded like a piece of cake! Not quite completely obeying her trainer just yet, the minute Red challenged the girl, out flew the Pokeball containing a shiny little charmander and it roared at that Staryu like she was gonna get taken down and....yeah there was a healthy dose of reality that day about Pokemon types. As she fell nearly instantly, the charmander feared history was going to repeat itself once again. Red was going to throw her in Misty's pool and this time, no one would come to her aid. Amazingly, Red postponed the fight. He put his very own coat around her to keep her warm, offered a tissue for that running nose, and then told her to watch as his squirtle and him fought.

Any doubt she might have had about him or desires to flee to her first trainer disappeared completely after that. He even gave her a name; Sasha.

A training montage later, and they were off to get the thunder badge next! Vermilion City sounded like just a nice place and there was a talk of a cruise-ship (oh great something floating on water :| ), but then Red took a detour. Some constructions workers seemed to be having problems building a resort. They kept getting sabotaged. He offered to help them. They seemed to nice too! Except for that part where they played dirty and used him like a common mutt to find the source of their problem and attack it with Machops. NOT COOL. Sasha and Marie tagged team the hell out of those little fighting buggers and gave them a few lessons in what it means to try and mess around with Red Team (Hint: You get burned and watered). The next part seemed like a blur; first they were shown how much damage was being done to the forest, and Red decided he wanted to help (Sasha admittedly not quite understanding what the big deal with the forest destruction was) but thanks to Red's amazing display of diplomacy, the resort was put on infinite hold.

Ivysaur wanted to join them, and Sasha felt a little ping of jealousy. Maybe it was the fact he was an evolved Pokemon and that reminded her of the dreams of her first trainer. Maybe because Vinnie, even if he was of the Bulbasaur line, was a pretty cocky guy and he kinda enjoyed being Red's only evolved Pokemon so far. Maybe because they were off to face Surge and plant Pokemon were much better than ye olde fire-based Charmander.

Yeah she was having the equivalent of a Pokemon teen crisis. She feared she was going to be put on the sidelines and let's face it, Vinnie was totally playing it like he was boss hog. Despite Marie assuring her that it was alright, Sasha would not be moved. One annoying boat trip and rival fight later, they were facing off against another Gym Leader. Just like in Misty's Gym, Sasha stepped out again, asked Red if she could, at the very least try to fight them. And Red, bless his heart, decided to let her do it, even if Vinnie found the idea hilarious. Yeah whatever Vin. She'd show you.

And she did try her best. While definitely not made to fight Surge's Pokemon, Sasha did put up a pretty good fight...against the first one. She fell soon afterwards and Vinnie, the ever cocky bastard that he is, totally made a huge show as he went on to secure their victory.

Furious her rage burned up into levels she didn't know existed up until that point. Her entire body felt aflame. As the Ivysaur was getting close to finishing off the final Pokemon, Sasha evolved into a Charmeleon. She wanted to go back in and finish Surge's last Pokemon herself. Vinnie would have none of it and did the deed himself.

Yeah that didn't sit very well with her. Her charmeleon years were marked with anger and she and Vinnie barely got along, arguing, trying to outdo each other for Red and Marie's affection. And what do you know, she had type advantage. You eat two rocks? I'll eat three. And melt it in lava. And set your hair on fire. And punch each other's face. Basically like most brothers and sisters in their teenager years.

Their mission turned more serious when they entered Lavander Town and learned that Team Rocket was behind a lot of things. Oh man, if only Vinnie and Sasha would stop being douches to each other they could seriously start thinking about taking that man down. Red was a dreamer, just like Sasha. How could a single guy take down an entire organization? He'd try it. They pressed on into celadon city, where he finally got another permanent member of the team; an Eevee. Red gave it some super long name that Sasha didn't quite understand, she just called her E for a long while.

Celadon city meant, of course, a gym leader battle. And what do you know, Vinnie wanted to play big shot again. And in a moment of humility, he totally got HIS ass handed to him. AWW YEAH KARMA. Finally, Sasha felt appreciated as she totally obliterated Erika's Pokemon and got some of her Charmeleon rage calmed down. Just enough for Vinne and her to cooperate more with Euphie and Marie when they went to that town's casino and laid the first of the smackdowns on Giovanni. With the Silph Scope in their hands, they went off to have an adventure in Lavander Town.

Let's just say there were a lot of ghosts, and a lot of team bonding that can only be forged by badasses being scared of certain things. The end result was a flute! Which Red could sorta play (by blowing into it and moving his fingers like he knew what he was doing, mostly). With that, they could remove that huge sleeping oaf blocking their path.

It was a tag team of the ages. All four of them working in tandem to take out that huge Snorlax. In the end, they were victorious, and a new member joined the team, Sonny Moe! Everyone grew and bonded, and the gyms seemed to pass by much quicker. Sasha learned to calm herself more, even if Vinnie and her still got into spats. At least they weren't trying to out eat each other with rocks (besides, now that Moe was here, he won every time.) Fuchsia went like a blur, and they finally gained their last team mate in Saffron City.

Well, that's starting with the end. What really happened is they were bad enough dudes to rescue the Silph Co President from Giovanni, kick his ass (again) and show him the power of TEAMWORK. In thanks, they ended up with their last teammate, a Lapras who, despite being the last member, was probably the calmest and most stoic of the group. He probably wondering what he was doing with wanna-be world heroes who were hyper and on the search of adventure. On they went! Sabrina and Blaine fell before them, and their badges were Red's.

It was time to take the last b-oh nevermind, Bill invited them for a island vacation, where everyone relaxed, had a good time and forged even stronger teammate bonds. After that, they returned to Viridian City where the last badge was said to be held by a mysterious man...

All obstacles removed, this was it. Their final gym battle before they could take on the elite four. Needless to say, the team worked all together at their best. The strongest trainers awaiting to stop them. But one of them stood out more to Sasha than the rest.

The Team Rocket Grunt, who had escaped capture and was now hiding with a different identity. Obviously he did not expect her nor did she him. She was easy to recognize, after all, with her bright yellow coloring. He mocked her, told her that he'd found much more powerful Pokemon and that one day, Team Rocket would rise again. She demanded that the battle be between the both of them, and the rest of Red team stood back as she took on the first opponent, a Sandlash. It was hard, being that all his attacks hit her much harder since she was a fire type, but with Red's encouraging words and the team beginning her, she managed to do it, her energy nearly all spent. He called out his second Pokemon. Another Sandlash. She knew she was in trouble, as he laughed at her. But then she felt her team cheering her on. Red threw a potion at her. She realized that it really just wasn't her fighting him now, but the entire team. Together. She wasn't alone. A moment of zen and clarity. The anger seemed to subside and then it happened again. She transformed, this time into her final form of a Charizard. Not a bright yellow as they would have expected, but a black dragon. Yeah, suddenly that Cooltrainer didn't feel so cool anymore.

And hey, what do you know. She could fly now. Even if it was just jumping in the air and flapping her wings, ground attacks could not touch her. The Sandlash went down quickly. He wasn't out of options, however, and brought out a Nidorino. Told her to try and beat that. She just...turned around and the rest of the team stepped in. She understood now. They were a team. They fought like one.

Many hugs and wing pokes were had and a quick refresh later, it was time to take down the gym leader. Giovanni. Yeah, it was on. And the most spectacular teamwork was had as the man was taken down once and for all. Team Rocket was finally disbanded and they had the final badge too! Now it was time to go to Victory Road and...

Aww dammit Green. After beating him YET AGAIN, off they went to the Elite Four. It was hard. But they had worked for this, when one went down, the others stepped in. Sasha fell twice herself. But she always got up for the next fight.

In the end, only the Great Champion remained. And it was...Green? In a sense, that only made the entire team more determined. They fought tooth and nail. Green Team was powerful, but so was Red and in the end, Red prevailed. Green's reign as Grand Champion didn't even last for a day. They had done it! Become the greatest of them all, and their photo was taken to be kept in the vaults for all time. They had beaten Giovanni. Life was good, and calm for a while. Then Red got the wanderlust bug. Sasha could only agree to this, feeling that this was getting a wee bit boring.

So off they went to Johto! Their team easily squashing the poor gym leaders there and in no time, Red had himself another full set of gym leader badges. They all laughed at Falkner's level 6 Pidgeys okay no. They ended up settling in the mountains, both as a return to nature and to wonder what they should do next.

In the end, Red Team became something trainers whispered to each other. “If you go up there, you can fight the greatest of them all.” Sasha was more than ready to put on a show so they got their tired journey's worth. They got the news this way, with trainers arriving, telling them was was happening, challenging him to a battle. It so came to pass that aparently a lot of Gym Leaders were putting their gyms on hold as they left for some sort of school. Huh uhhh. Strange.

Red wanted to go. Alone at first to check the place out. That was cool with the team, they could stay here together and chill. Hey, Vinnie even evolved (Sasha and him high-fived.). A small while later they got some sort of fancy new TM from that school that could turn them human. OH WOW. They used it and...

...A week later they got clothing and realized what they had been missing. Cause you know, mountains are pretty cold (Kojiro saw it as training :| ). They practised using their human bodies a bit more. Only Espeon decided not to switch, and much like Marie not wanting to evolve, everyone was respectful of this. They were a team! They...they all really missed Red.

Finally, they got a letter! Apparently the mail system was terrible and the Pidgey carriers kept getting eaten by Fearrows. Oops. So now there was this turtle guy at their door with a word from Red.

He was doing fine! And the school was cool and he missed them awww...and Green and Giovanni were there WHAT WHAT WHAT.

That..could not stand. They decided, right there and then to go to school and give Red the biggest surprise he'd ever get. Red Team...away!

Anything else?
- Brave Nature, Lvl 84 in HG/SS. Not that levels are really important in SBG.
- Canon Moveset: Flare Blitz, Air Slash, Dragon Pulse and Blast Burn
- Brawl Moveset also includes: Rock Smash, Flamethrower and Fly. I assume she can use those as well as a Charizard who forgets fly is not much of a Charizard.

- Shiny does not give her anything special, apart from giving her a darker human skin color, and to easily differ her from Green's Charizard.
- The teams unofficial head cheerleader.
- Sasha greets the sun every morning as part of her exercises. This used to include roaring at the sun that also served as a warning to any nearby Charizard that she was around to defend her turf, but she's working to keep that quieter when the rest of the team is around since it wakes up the later sleepers.
- The team's grill and BBQ master. She rarely eats anything raw; roasting, baking and boiling all of what she eats. Her old and preferred method is "animal on a stick", but thanks to modern cooking, using a gas portable BBQ is much better and produces better results then just holding her mouth open for a few minutes. Plus she's her own igniter!
- Mostly a carnivore, but will always bring back her catch to the Red Team first.
- The spicier, the better. She likes to stock on Naga Dorset peppers for emergencies, and very few around her have the stomach for even a tiny bite of these. Except maybe Moe.
- Hates sweets, and will usually skip deserts unless they are savory in nature.
- Trips over her wings when she walks if she doesn't look where she's watching.
- Curious about electronics, but seems to have bad luck with them.
- Fiery breath, even in human form. She's been in her human form as the skin has a lower tolerance burn.
- Are you a good friend and light enough to climb on her back? You're in luck! She loves to give out rides.
- Plays Drums on Expert on Rock Band. She is incredibly proud of that despite the fact it's just hitting multicolored notes.
- Gosh darn it she loves to dance, but she's so...terrible at it. Not to mention there's a tail and wings in the way.
- Want to date her? You'll have to pass the Red Team first. Ever get threatened for breaking a girl's heart? NOW YOU WILL.
- Her weak points, are her horns and the bottom of her neck. Rub those and she stretches out in a lazy fashion, almost purring (well more like a low, content growl).
